Ahman Green Was Crazy Good in 2003

In Tuesday's episode of Blue 58 (which you can subscribe to on iTunes and Google Play), we touched on Packers records that may never be broken. Among them, I mentioned Ahman Green's 1,883 single season rushing total.

I seriously undersold how great he was.

In NFL history, there have only been 33 times in which a running back's output has scored a 20 or more on Pro Football Reference's approximate value chart.

Green's 2003 season was one of them.

In NFL history, only six players have rushed for more than 1,800 yards and caught 50 passes.

In 2003, Green did just that.

In NFL history, just three players have put up 1,800 yards, caught 50 passes, and scored 20 or more total touchdowns.

Green is among those three.

His counterparts, LaDainian Tomlinson and Eric Dickerson, are either imminent or current members of the Hall of Fame.

Of that trio, Green had the highest yards per carry number and averaged the most total rushing yards per game.
