Packers Select WR Malachi Dupre in Seventh Round

The Packers wrapped up their 2017 NFL Draft with another offensive pick, tacking wide receiver Malachi Dupre from LSU.

Dupre was a former five star high school prospect who never reached his full potential in college. Still, he has terrific physical gifts and could be a great steal if he develops in Green Bay.

What are Malachi Dupre’s strengths?

  • Good size at 6-2, 196 pounds
  • Good enough speed at 4.52 in the 40 and tested well in agility drills
  • Reliable hands

What are Malachi Dupre’s weaknesses?

  • Inconsistent deep speed
  • Just a marginal blocker
  • Inconsistent route runner

How does Malachi Dupre fit in Green Bay?

Aaron Rodgers will never be short of weapons, as Ted Thompson consistently equips him with the pass catchers he needs. Dupre fits the physical profile of past Packers draft picks and should show he belongs at least from an athletic standpoint. That said, he’ll have a major uphill climb to unseat the receivers ahead of him.
