Week 8 Picks - Not Quite This Much, Thank You

One of my long-standing sayings regarding the NFL Draft is "root for chaos."

Chaos has historically helped teams like the Packers, who have picked toward the bottom of the first round for most of the 21st century. Usually, most of the top-tier prospects are gone by the time the Packers' first pick rolls around, but chaotic decisions ahead of them can push talented palyers down the board.

Generally speaking, it's fun to root for chaos in the regular season, too. Weird and wild stuff makes for a more interesting league, and it makes the week-in, week-out sameness of an NFL season seem, well, a little less the same.

But it turns out things are a little less fun when the Packers are the chaotic ones, and I think that's a pretty good word for my overall feelings about this team right now. They're chaotic, and not in a fun way. Players are running to the wrong spots, the offensive line swings from "impenetrable" to "look out!" on a play-to-play basis, and nothing seems planned or stable. It all just sloshes together into an amorphous, chaotic mess.

And I've had about enough of it! Structure may not fix everything for this team, but taming the chaos just a bit could go a long way. It might not save the season, but it could give us a better idea of who's doing well and who needs to see the door in Green Bay.
